Terms of use

These terms apply when you use Kalvikarai, on our website or in the app. By using Kalvikarai, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Kalvikarai.

In these terms, “Kalvikarai”, “we” and “us” mean Kalvikarai. “You” means the person using Kalvikarai.

What Kalvikarai is

Kalvikarai helps you prepare for TNPSC exams with past-paper questions, explanations, practice sessions and mock tests, in English and Tamil.

Kalvikarai is an independent app. It is not run by, linked to or approved by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) or any government body. For official notices, syllabuses, answer keys and results, always check tnpsc.gov.in.

Who can use Kalvikarai

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or buy a plan.

Guests and accounts

• Guests. You can practise without an account. As a guest, your history, bookmarks and stats are saved on that device only. If you clear your browser data or change devices before you sign up, they are lost.
• Your account. When you sign up, give true details and keep your password safe. You are responsible for everything done in your account.
• One person per account. An account is for you alone. Don’t share your login or let other people use your account. If we see signs that an account is shared, we will warn you first. If it keeps happening, we may suspend the account, and we don’t refund suspended accounts.
• Tell us straight away at support@kalvikarai.com if you think someone else has used your account. You can sign out of other devices from your account settings.

Plans and payments

• The Free plan has limited practice questions and mock tests. We may change these limits.
• The Practice Plan and PRO are one-month prepaid passes. You pay once through Razorpay, and the plan lasts one month.
• Plans never renew by themselves. We only charge you when you choose to buy or renew.
• If you renew early, your next month is queued and starts when your current month ends.
• If you upgrade from Practice to PRO, PRO starts straight away and we take the unused value of your Practice plan off the price. You can’t switch from PRO down to Practice while PRO is active.
• Unlimited features are for one person’s own exam preparation. OMR checking on PRO is subject to fair use. If use is far beyond what one student preparing for an exam would need, we may limit it.
• Prices are shown in the app before you pay. The price you see is the full amount you pay. We don’t currently charge GST. If that changes, the price shown before you pay will include it. If we change a price, the new price only applies to purchases made after the change. It never changes a month you have already paid for.

Refunds are covered by our refund policy.

Our content

Explanations, translations, mock tests, the way questions are organised, and the Kalvikarai app and website belong to Kalvikarai. The original TNPSC question papers belong to TNPSC.

You may use Kalvikarai for your own exam preparation. You may not:

• Copy, download, save in bulk, sell or republish our questions, explanations or mock tests
• Use bots, scrapers or other automated tools to access or collect content from Kalvikarai
• Use our content to train or build AI models, or to make another app, book, course or website
• Share your account or our paid content with people who haven’t paid for it

You are welcome to share your own scores, for example with the daily challenge share card.

Accuracy and results

We check our questions, answers and explanations carefully, but mistakes can happen. If you spot one, tap Report on the question so we can fix it.

Kalvikarai is a study aid. We don’t guarantee that you will pass an exam, get a certain score or get a job. Your result depends on your own preparation and on the exam itself.

Things you upload

When you upload an OMR answer-sheet photo or PDF, or write a note in a question report, it stays yours. You let us store and process it only to provide the service: to read and score that sheet, or to look into your report. We don’t use your OMR sheets for anything else, including training or improving our sheet reading.

Only upload your own answer sheets, and don’t upload anything that is illegal, offensive or belongs to someone else.

Using Kalvikarai fairly

Don’t:

• Try to get around plan limits, payments or security checks
• Interfere with, overload or attack Kalvikarai, or try to get into parts of it you aren’t allowed to use
• Use Kalvikarai to break any law

Changes to Kalvikarai

We keep improving Kalvikarai, so features may be added, changed or removed. Features marked coming soon, such as the Oli AI Tutor, may change before they launch or may not launch at all. We may sometimes pause Kalvikarai for maintenance. If a problem on our side stops you using a paid plan, see our refund policy.

Ending your account

• You can delete your account at any time from Profile. If you have a paid plan, the remaining days are lost and are not refunded.
• We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you why and give you a chance to fix the problem first.

Limits on our responsibility

Kalvikarai is provided “as is”. As far as the law allows:

• We aren’t responsible for indirect losses, such as a lost exam opportunity, lost job or lost data.
• Our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under Indian consumer protection law.

Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. If we can’t settle a dispute by talking to each other first, it will be handled by the courts in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change is important, we will tell you in the app or by email before it applies. If you keep using Kalvikarai after a change, you accept the new terms.
